NY policewomen shunned in rare film

Rare archive news footage from the 1960s and 70s has been made available to broadcasters and researchers for the first time in 40 years.

This news item from New York shows policewomen joining male officers on patrol for the first time - a move not welcomed by the policemen's wives.

The hours of material had lain untouched in deep storage under General Eisenhower's wartime London headquarters. It is being restored by the Associated Press.
