Hopes remain for duty-free shop

A duty-free shop could still be opened for passengers arriving at Jersey Airport despite opposition, a senior politician has said.

Jersey States wants to generate much needed money to run the airport.

The Chamber of Commerce fears it may put pressure on shops and other places that have to charge duty and the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

But Alan Maclean, assistant economic development minister, said he was working on ways around the objections.
