An accountant has been chosen for a key supervisory role in Jersey's new ministerial government. States members will be asked to approve the appointment of Christopher Swinson as Comptroller and Auditor General.
Mr Swinson has had a career in chartered accountancy in the UK and has advised the UK Treasury, the Pensions Regulator and the Audit Commission.
As Comptroller, he will play an important part in making sure taxpayers' money is spent properly.
If States members approve the appointment, Mr Swinson will take up the two day a week, 34,000 a year job from October.
Ten ministries will replace the island's current 15 government committees.
The date for the introduction of the ministerial system is planned for December 2005, following a general election.
