Island liberation tune discovered
A tune written by two soldiers who liberated Jersey has been rediscovered and recorded in the run-up to Liberation Day.

The Liberation Waltz was written by Lt Brigadier Bob Warne and Sgt Tom Sidebotham from the Royal Artillery.

Islander Peter Hervieu rediscovered the tune and asked the music department at Highlands College to put it on to CD.

It is thought it was first played at the Mayfair Hotel in a show called Stars from the Army.

Jersey was occupied by Nazi forces for five years during World War II. It was liberated on 9 May 1945.

The Queen is coming to the Channel Islands to take part in this year's Liberation Day celebrations.
