| Jersey States says it has saved over �15m of taxpayers' money which had been earmarked for unforeseen circumstances. The money is in the General Reserve, a fund that is used by the States to pay for unforeseen eventualities like a disaster or a civil emergency. Last year �10.4m was spent from the fund, leaving a �15.2m balance. The finance and economics committee said despite the surplus it will still only honour requests for truly urgent and unexpected requirements.
