New passenger ferry set to arrive
Seacat
The new ferry will replace the Seacat chartered from Hoverspeed
A new passenger ferry will be travelling between Jersey and St Malo next month.

The new boat will replace the Emeraude Great Britain, which was chartered from Hoverspeed in the UK last year.

The 243ft (74m) catamaran, which will be called Emeraude France, will carry 75 cars and 430 passengers.

The boat will be no quicker than the old one, but the company says it will have better access for foot passengers and improved disabled facilities.

The Emeraude GB was chartered last year after engine problems with the previous vessel.

It will go into service in February, but will be withdrawn from the route for three weeks in March while it undergoes modifications in Cherbourg.

During that time the Solidor Five will operate on the route.
