The office's specialist debt adviser has a three-week waiting list |
Jersey's Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) is urging people not to ignore bills which have arrived in the new year. The CAB said it often saw a surge of people asking advice following Christmas and the New Year holidays.
People often find it more difficult to deal with bills in January after the expense of Christmas.
Manager Francis le Gresley said the service could help by putting creditors on notice that the bill-payer does aim to pay, but an agreement was needed.
He added that one way the bureau could help would be to assist in arranging an instalments plan.
People are also being alerted to the office's specialist debt adviser, although sessions are already booked up three weeks in advance.
