Centre shuts earlier at weekends
Fort Regent has started closing earlier at weekends to save money.

The St Helier leisure centre, flagship of the Jersey Sports and Leisure Division, is closing at 1700 GMT.

All States departments have been asked to cut costs as spending comes under tighter scrutiny ahead of major changes in company taxation.

Derek De La Haye, Assistant Director of Education, Sport and Culture, said weekend evenings were found to be the easiest time to shut early.

Jersey States, which is planning a zero rate corporation tax to encourage them to still use Jersey as a tax haven, is pushing through a series of cost-cutting measures.
