Two more candidates come forward
Voters in Jersey are being offered a growing list of candidates for this autumn's two elections.

Eight declared candidates, including three sitting senators, will contest the six seats at the senatorial elections due to take place in October.

The two most recent candidates to put themselves forward are Roger Bisson, for senator and Steve Pallett, who is standing to be a deputy.

The two elections are for six senators and for 29 deputies.

Mr Bisson is a computer specialist who worked in the UK before returning to work for his family business in St Helier.

Retiring Connetable

Mr Pallett is the second Jersey Democratic Alliance candidate to declare for the role of deputy. He runs a roofing company and is first team manager of St Ouen's football club.

He plans to stand for St Brelade Number Two against sitting deputies Peter Troy and Julian Bernstein, both of whom have said they wish to remain in the States.

Despite news that St Brelade Connetable Max de la Haye is standing down, no candidates have as yet come forward.

The 2005 senators election will be on19 October and the last chance for candidates to declare their intention to stand is 13 September.

The election for deputies will be on 23 November.

The nomination meetings will be held in each parish on 25 October.
