Bollards to cut airport accidents
A new road system is being trialled at Jersey's airport to prevent car accidents in the area.

Temporary bollards have been put up to make driveways to and from the airport one-way to prevent cars and taxis being able to do U-turns.

It is hoped it will become a permanent fixture in January.

Money raised through parking fines in the parish of St Peter will go towards making the bollards permanent in a scheme that will cost about 8,000.

Vehicles doing U-turns in the airport approach roads have caused accidents in the past.

Airport Director Mike Lanyon said: "It'll cost about 8,000. Half of it has been raised from money taken in parking fines by the parish of St Peter, with whom we share that money.

"Any money we raise will be put into road safety improvements at the airport.

"Work will start in January once we've got the bollards right."
