Review to reduce States sickness
Thermometer (generic)
The aim of the review is to reduce States spending
Plans to cut the amount of time Jersey's States employees take off because of sickness are being reviewed.

The Shadow Accounts Committee and human resources are looking at the reasons why people take time off sick.

Last year States employees took an average of 10.3 three days off work because of sickness, which the government says costs 10m.

Work has begun to cut the time taken off, but the Shadow Public Accounts Committee says more work is needed.

But Shadow Chairman, Deputy Sarah Ferguson, says it is important that staff feel they are being treated fairly.

This is the first report by the Shadow Public Accounts Committee which was set up to make sure the States achieves better value for money.
