The States had a 1.5m legal bill for the Les Pas case |
An investigation could be launched into Jersey States' spending on court cases and legal costs. Deputy Alan Breckon, from the Consumer Council, has questioned how the States has spent 30m over the past six years.
He wants a company to examine the issues, particularly the 1.5m bill for the Les Pas case.
States members agreed an out-of-court settlement with the company Les Pas Holdings over the contested ownership of part of the St Helier foreshore.
Deputy Breckon wants the company Legal Budgets Limited to carry out the inquiry.
He said the firm had experience in dealing with disputes over legal costs in Jersey.
