Events at Mont Orgueil Castle will show what life was like in medieval times |
The Jersey Revels got under way on Friday. The events, centred around Gorey Castle, are the centrepiece of celebrations of 800 years of allegiance to the British Crown.
Mont Orgueil Castle will be filled with knights in armour, damsels and peasants for the weekend showing people what life was like in medieval times.
Organisers hope the weather will improve after rain called off Prince Charles' visit to the castle.
Motorists have been warned to avoid Gorey coast road in the next few days unless they are heading for the Revels. Several in the area are already closed and more than a dozen cars have already been towed away.
However, some local residents have complained about their pubs and shops being closed off to people that do not have tickets. They are also concerned about traffic and parking problems.
The Revels are taking place until 27 June.
