Two Jersey youngsters will represent the island at the Third Commonwealth Youth Parliament in Australia. Two people aged between 18 and 29 will be chosen to go to Brisbane next year.
The week-long event with youngsters from across the Commonwealth will run as a normal parliament with debates, question time and committee work.
Young people who have been involved in the Youth Assembly and are interested in current affairs and parliamentary issues are being urged to apply.
'Challenging opportunity'
They will meet with other youngsters from the Commonwealth to discuss their ideas and concerns about democracy.
People interested must apply with their CV and final interviews will be in December.
Senator Jean Le Maistre, from the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, says it would suit anyone who has tried debating.
He said: "I think it is an exciting and challenging opportunity, it's a rare occurrence and it doesn't happen every year, and they will meet young people from all over the world."
