Mencap representatives on visit
UK representatives from the charity Mencap are visiting Jersey to see the work of the local branch.

The organisation works to help people with learning difficulties integrate into the community through employment and learning and domestic support.

The representatives are from the National Chief Executive and workers from Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

They are visiting local groups such as the Mont a L'Abbe School and the respite care home Maison Allo.

Maison Allo is a children's respite care home set up 18 months ago where up to five people can stay there with their families.

Another key project the Jersey branch is currently involved with is the Self Advocacy Service, which offers one-to-one help with financial, domestic, employment and other advice.

The visit coincides with the local branch's annual meeting for members and their families at Mont a L'Abbe School on Wednesday.
