Politicians from the Jersey parish of St Brelade are holding talks in France this weekend over a possible twinning arrangement. They will spend a day meeting local dignitaries from the French town of Granville.
Granville's links with the island go back a long way, particularly with its ferry services.
Deputy Peter Troy is leading a group of St Brelade representatives to meet the town's mayor and local council members.
They will tour the local markets and have lunch in the old city.
It is the first step in the twinning process.
Parishioners have yet to agree the move, which will be discussed at a parish assembly later in the year.
