Protests against housing plans
Builder
Parish Deputy Colin Egre says the site should only have 54 homes
People living in the Jersey parish of St Peter have been questioning planning officers about a new housing development in the village.

A meeting was held on Thursday night to discuss plans to build 78 homes on three fields at La Ville l'Eglise in St Peter.

The plan are made up of a mixture of social housing and first-time buyer homes.

But the Parish Deputy, Colin Egre, said parishioners are not happy about the plans and too many homes were planned for the size of the land.

'Serious issue' He said he thought the number should be reduced to 54, as was originally proposed three years ago.

He said although the parish had to do its bit for the island, plans have already been approved for a large housing development on the site of the former L'Hermitage Hotel and that a third of the parish is taken up by the airport.

He said it was a serious issue because it was an extensive urban development in what was mainly a rural area.
