Customs and the police in Jersey seized a record �4m-worth of drugs last year. Customs seized drugs with a street value of �2,961,488, 36% up on 2002 and police seized drugs worth �1,241,260, more than double the 2002 figure of �539,500.
Class A drugs, such as heroin, cocaine and ecstasy, seized by Customs totalled �1,008,893.
Class B drugs seized, 99% of which was cannabis, had a street value of �1,952,595.
Customs praised "a real team effort" for the success.
A spokesman said: "The professionalism and commitment of these officers is to be commended."
Among those responsible for the seizures were Customs sniffer dogs Toad and Forest who detected drugs worth �554,000.
