Doves at heart of Jersey Zoo
Bleeding heart dove
Bleeding Heart Doves are under threat in the Philippines
Two Mindanao Bleeding Heart Doves are the latest new arrivals to Jersey Zoo.

Mindanaos are a type of dove found in small islands in the Phillippines.

But they are at risk because of their homes are being cut down so more humans can live in the forests.

They are also often trapped for food.

The two doves brought into the zoo are brothers, but from different broods hatched two years apart.

They are going to be the star attraction in the new Jewels of the Forest aviary.

Once they have settled in, zoo staff hope to find them two females to mate with.
