Students urged to get on their bikes
Motorcyclist in traffic
Nine 15-year-old pupils are enrolled on the course
Jersey students are being taught how to ride their motorbikes safely.

Nine 15-year-old pupils at Les Quennevais School are enrolled on the 30-hour long On Two Wheels motorbike course.

It is the first time the motorbike safety and maintenance course has been run by the Jersey Youth Service as part of a school programme.

It is designed to improve youngsters' knowledge of motorbike laws, how to ride them and look after them properly.

The States of Jersey Police and the Ambulance Service have given practical riding sessions and first aid.

Mitch Couriard from the Jersey Youth Service, who is running the course, says he hopes other schools will join in and offer their pupils a similar course.

Each student will give a presentation next week to show the skills they have learned before being presented with a certificate.
