The Isle of Man's chief minister has said Mark Cavendish is "a sporting phenomenon" after his fourth stage Tour de France victory. The 23-year-old won by nearly a bike length in Nimes, cementing his status as the world's best sprinter. Chief Minister Tony Brown said: "There is literally no stopping Mark Cavendish and I'm sure the whole island is asking what he will do next." Cavendish, who was born on the island, has been tipped for gold in Beijing. "This young man is a Manx sporting phenomenon who is on track for great success at the forthcoming Olympics," Mr Brown said. He added that appropriate national recognition of Cavendish's achievements was planned.
