No criminal probe after TT deaths

No criminal charges will follow the deaths of three people during the centenary Isle of Man TT.

Rider Marc Ramsbotham, 34, and two spectators - Dean Jacob, 33, and Gregory Kenzig, 52 - were killed in an accident on the 26th milestone.

Isle of Man Police were considering launching a manslaughter investigation into the tragic incident.

But after discussions with the Attorney General, senior officers have decided against starting criminal proceedings.

Health and safety

The deaths overshadowed an otherwise fatality free centenary festival, and came during the Senior Race on the last day.

Organisers and police launched an immediate investigation into the incident, which happened in June.

Det Ch Con Mike Langdon said: "Whilst this matter is no longer being treated by the police as a criminal investigation, the Isle of Man Constabulary will be continuing a detailed and thorough investigation on behalf of the Coroner of Inquests, which will provide a full account of all relevant information."

The matter will now be considered by the Isle of Man Health and Safety Inspectorate.

More than 200 people have been killed on the course since the first tourist trophy race in 1907.
