TV's Craven backs Manx recycling

One tree will be planted for every tonne of aluminium collected
TV personality John Craven is backing an initiative to encourage people in the Isle of Man to recycle.

He is urging people to take part in the aluminium recycling scheme to boost funds for tree planting in Africa.

The project ensures a tree is planted in the country for every tonne of aluminium drinks can and foil recycled this year.

He said:"My local council started a recycling scheme just over a year ago and recycling has gone up 40 per cent."

The former newsround presenter added: "We have three different bins; one is for garden rubbish, one is for kitchen rubbish and things and one is for plastic and cans.

"It's dead simple, it couldn't be easier."
