Price increase plea to care homes
Elderly
Charges are due to increase from 10 April
An Isle of Man government minister has urged care homes not to implement charge increases until an investigation is completed.

Minister Steve Rodan wants nursing home managers to delay planned price rises until an inquiry by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has finished.

He has written to five homes over their proposed increases.

The OFT investigation was ordered into charging policies at the island's homes earlier this week.

In Mr Rodan's letter, he asks the home owners to reconsider proposed rises to 695 a week as the most the DHSS can afford to pay is 640.

He said that holding off on the rises would "allow us opportunity for further amicable discussion, and hopefully, agreement".
