Inquiry ordered into care charges
Elderly
Charges are due to increase from 10 April
An investigation is to take place into the rising costs of elderly care at nursing homes in the Isle of Man.

Proposed increases in fees charged by the island's nursing homes are due to come into effect from 10 April.

On Monday, the council of ministers ordered the investigation into the "appropriateness" of the charges.

The Office of Fair Trading, which is carrying out the inquiry, will be asked to report back "as soon as possible", a government spokesman said.

The investigation was ordered under Section 19 of the Fair Trading Act 1996.
