Roads closed for TT race practice
TT race
More than 200 people have lost their lives during the TT races
Roads around the TT Mountain Course on the Isle of Man are closing for the first Manx Grand Prix practice session.

The first race is due to take place on Monday, with practice sessions starting on Saturday evening.

Bikers will also be able to take part in evening practices from Monday to Saturday next week.

The roads are expected to close at 1800 BST and reopen no later than 2045 BST. A row started earlier this week over the policing of the races.

Police on the island said they no longer wanted to stand by the course as it was too dangerous.

But the Tourism Department threatened to cut the force's funding.

More than 200 people have died since the race began in 1907.

Discussions between the police and the Tourism Department are expected in the near future.
