The baton for the 2010 Commonwealth Games has arrived in the Bailiwick of Guernsey.

The Queen's baton relay team left Buckingham Palace in London at the end of October.

It carries her majesty's message to every athlete who is competing at next year's games in India.

The baton team arrived at Guernsey Airport at about 1330 GMT. It will stay in the island for three days, before continuing on its journey to Delhi.

The Bailiwick is hoping to send one of its biggest teams ever to India next year.

The relay symbolises the gathering of people from across the Commonwealth at the Games and was introduced in 1958.
