Ferry company ditches CI service

HD Ferries will not be resuming services between the Channel Islands and France this year.

The company said not enough people were able to travel often enough to make the service viable.

HD called a premature halt to its 2008 sailings in September, blaming the high cost of diesel fuel as well as the economic downturn.

It said fuel prices have fallen but the economic downturn meant market conditions were still difficult.
