Ferry workers in dark over return

French staff of HD Ferries have said they have not been told whether the company will resume services between France and the Channel Islands.

HD called a premature halt to its 2008 sailings in September, citing the high cost of diesel fuel.

It has said it will decide next month whether to resume services to the Channel Islands in 2009.

But the five employees have had no news of HD's plans from their management, according to newspaper Ouest France.

Part of the firm's St Malo offices have been rented out to rival company, Condor ferries.
