Jason Piriou's death on Saturday has shocked islanders |
Tributes are being paid to the 37-year-old president of Guernsey's Milk Retailers Association (GMRA), who died suddenly over the weekend. Jason Piriou was fishing at L'Eree on Saturday when he collapsed. A decision is due to be made later about whether a post-mortem examination will be held. Culture and Leisure Minister Mike O'Hara said he would be greatly missed and the thoughts of everyone at the States were with Mr Piriou's family. 'Caring man' He said: "He was a real leader and our hearts go out to his family. "It's a great shock to absolutely everyone." Deputy Mary Lowe said: "Jason was one of the nicest people that I have helped during my time in the States. "I feel privileged to have known such a caring man who acted professionally in his role as president of the GMRA but always went the extra mile through his dedication and commitment. "Jason was enthusiastic in whatever he was involved with but nothing could beat that unforgettable smile as a very proud family man."
