Airline starts competing UK route
A Channel Island airline is to launch a competing flight between Guernsey and Southampton this summer.

Blue Islands has announced it will operate a daily scheduled service from 2 July, with morning and evening flights every weekday.

It will run alongside Flybe's daily service from Guernsey to Southampton.

The Commerce and Employment Department announced it would allow extra competition on the route following a hearing in March.

Blue Islands managing director Paul Sabin said he was confident there was sufficient demand on the route for local two operators.
