Airline announces name change
Rockhopper
The airline was named Rockhopper in 2002
Channel Island airline Rockhopper is changing its name.

From February, the company will be known as Blue Islands. It had been called Le Cocqs Air Link before becoming Rockhopper in 2002.

Alderney businessman Noel Hayes set up Le Cocqs six years ago to bring fresh food from the UK to his shops.

In 2002, it began taking passengers between Bournemouth and Alderney, and has gradually increased its routes in the Channel Islands and the UK.

Vitamin supplier and hospitality company Healthspan has become the major shareholder in the company.

In 2005, the company moved its headquarters to Jersey.

Blue Islands will run its finance and reservations system from Guernsey but its management, operations and crew will still be based in Jersey.

The move coincides with the delivery of the first of its new fleet of 19-seater aircraft and a new air link with the Isle of Man.

The company said it hoped the name change would boost its holiday travel image.
