Island streets stay alcohol free
Liberation Day revellers appear to be abiding by a drinking ban in parts of Guernsey, say police.

It is illegal to drink at Crown Pier, North Beach and St Julian's Esplanade as the island celebrates the end of German Occupation in 1945.

Last year's celebrations were tarnished by drunken behaviour and the new law is aimed at ensuring that this does not happen again.

Police said they were enjoying the day as much as the public.
