Bereavement helpline closes down
Problems with recruiting volunteers has led to a Guernsey support helpline closing down.

The Sunflower Trust offered guidance for children affected by bereavement and serious illness.

The trust was founded in 1995 and gave personal advice and support through the local help line.

But now callers to the trust will hear a message advising them to get in touch with a leading UK charity called Winston's Wish.

Management committee chairman Robin Fuller said the counselling was being provided by one worker but since she resigned the organisation has been unable to find trained staff.

The Trust will still offer guidance in schools and books and other resources will be available at the Guille-Allez library.
