Van daubed with racist graffiti
Vandals who sprayed racist graffiti on a van in Guernsey have been branded as vindictive and malicious by police.

The van was daubed with offensive graffiti at a car park in L'Ancresse on 3 July.

Pc Stuart Winterton, of Guernsey Police, said the criminal damage was minimal, but the anti-Latvian slogans were particularly offensive.

Laws to combat racism were passed in April after evidence some Latvian and Portuguese workers were being abused.

Pc Winterton said: "This was an attack on somebody's person as opposed to their property. It's an emotional thing because you're digging at someone's feelings.

"It's not a crime of need, but a crime of hate and it's vindictive and malicious."

Anyone who has information which could help is being asked to contact Guernsey Police.
