Royal award for island charities
The Queen
Her Majesty's award is marked by a crystal trophy
Three charities in the Channel Islands have won prestigious awards for their voluntary service.

The Channel Islands Air Search, Guernsey's Women's Refuge and the community bereavement service in Jersey will each receive a Queen's Award.

The scheme was launched by the Queen to mark her Golden Jubilee in 2003. It aims to recognise those who devote their time to helping others.

Ninety-two awards have been made this year across the British Isles.

Each charity will receive a special crystal trophy.
