 Islanders can send post carrying the special liberation stamps |
Channel Islanders will be able to buy special stamps to mark Liberation Day and the royal visit. Guernsey Post is releasing two stamps, each costing �1. One shows Queen Elizabeth II and the other shows her father, King George VI.
Jersey Post has produced a stamp with a picture of Sir Winston Churchill set against the Jersey Flag.
The stamp features Churchill's famous words: "...and our dear Channel Islands will also be freed today".
The Jersey stamp has been designed along the theme of 'Peace and Reconciliation'.
It also comes with a picture of the official twinning arrangement between St Helier and Bad Wurzach, showing the town Constable, the Mayor of the Bavarian town in Germany and the crests of the both towns.
In Guernsey, the post office in Smith Street, St Peter Port will be open for an hour at noon on Monday to sell the new stamps and sets of commemorative coins.
