Guernsey States bought Aurigny in May 2003 |
Channel Island airline Rockhopper has welcomed news of possible changes to the way its rival Aurigny is operated. Guernsey politicians are considering alternative ways of operating States-owned Aurigny in a proposed shake-up of aviation policy.
Rockhopper's managing director, Noel Hayes, said any re-organisation should favour local business.
Meanwhile, Aurigny boss Malcolm Hart has condemned speculation about job losses in light of the news.

The States bought the airline in May last year as a means of protecting links with Gatwick.
But the States is also responsible for regulating all the airlines which operate in the Bailiwick.
That has caused concerns that new airlines are put off coming to the island and has led to politicians proposing a partnership scheme.
Noel Hayes said he believed Guernsey's links with Gatwick could be protected without the need for the States to own Aurigny.
Rumours had started about possible job losses at Aurigny, but managing director Malcolm Hart said the proposed review of the airline's operation was always on the cards and staff had been kept informed.
He said staff should not worry unduly about the changing situation.
He said: "It leaves the staff as they have been and should be, which is comfortable with the current ownership structure and confident also that we'll have the right decision made for the future for the benefit of the business, its staff and its customers.
"I am wary and disappointed that people have chosen to put that uncertainty in people's minds. I think it's unfair."
Travellers are being assured they will not be affected by any changes to the airline.
