A senior Guernsey constable is calling for the island's horticultural land to stay green. St Martin's Constable Cynthia Cormack's remarks come as the island's Rural Area Planning review enters its final week.
It is the disused glasshouses in St Martin's which are causing concern for Ms Cormack and her parishioners.
Many landowners want to develop the sites for housing but Ms Cormack believes only small-scale developments should be permitted.
She said a "common sense" approach should be taken.
She said she hopes the Rural Area Planning review will err on the side of caution.
