The recent gales have meant a testing time for the Bailiwick's lifeboats and harbour authorities. In Guernsey six people were rescued when their yacht dragged its anchor in Icart Bay.
In Alderney the all-weather lifeboat helped in the rescue of a 40m German schooner drifting west of the Casquetes lighthouse.
The boat was escorted to the safety of St Peter Port Harbour at 1900 BST but forecasters predict more strong winds.
In Alderney's Braye harbour a French yacht broke free from its mooring.
In Braye Bay an unmanned 18ft motor boat was turned turtle.
Harbour authorities in both Guernsey and Jersey are urging boatowners to check moorings and make sure they have bailed out their craft before the next storms.
The heavy rain is expected to last throughout Thursday afternoon, weather experts say.
