Tim Ringsdore said consumers would decide the company's success |
A new mobile phone service has been launched in Guernsey. Wave Telecom's new network was launched on 1 July in time for a deadline which was set by the Office of Utility Regulation (OUR).
The company joins Cable and Wireless (C&W) in serving the telecoms market in the island.
Wave's service was due to have started on 30 April, but disagreements with C&W, including technical problems, delayed the launch.
Launch directive
The Office of Utility Regulation is currently investigating the charges C&W will levy on its customers' calls to Wave mobile.
However, Wave's managing director, Tim Ringsdore, said he believed it was now up to consumers to decide how successful each operator was.
He said: "We are delighted to launch our network and offer the people of Guernsey some real choice.
"We've listened very carefully to what islanders want and have come up with an excellent product and have fully complied with the OUR's directive to launch our service on 1 July."
