Only three beaches in guide list
Vazon
Vazon is one of the beaches singled out in the booklet
A total of only three out of 13 beaches in Guernsey have got the seal of approval in the 2004 Good Beach Guide.

L'Eree, Port Soif and Vazon are singled out in the Marine Conservation Society's booklet released on Friday.

The guide provides information on water quality and sewage discharge at more than 1,000 UK beaches.

In the 2003 guide, five out of 13 beaches in Guernsey were recommended. This year Pembroke and Portelet are no longer listed.

However, no Channel Island beaches failed the EU minimum standards.

The Society aims to keep the public informed of the state of British Bathing Waters.

At the same time it seeks to influence water companies and governments to take action to reduce coastal pollution.

Jersey has kept 10 out of 12 beaches on the recommended list.
