Island to see milk price increase
The price of Guernsey milk is due to go up.

From early May, the cost of litre and half litre cartons will rise by one pence, though this will not apply to organic milk.

The last time the cost of milk in the Bailiwick went up was in May 2003. The Agriculture and Countryside Board says the latest increase is below inflation.

The Board said a rise was fair, as farmers have not seen an increase in the price of their milk for two years.

It also said the below inflation rise was due to greater efficiency at the Guernsey Dairy.

The new prices will take effect on Sunday, 2 May.
