Guernsey cows aid Uganda
Guernsey cows are making a difference in Uganda.

The Christian charity Send a Cow celebrated its 15th anniversary with a service of celebration in Bath Abbey.

Since 1988, Send a Cow has helped relieve poverty and malnutrition in Uganda by providing livestock.

And the Guernsey cow has proved to be the best breed for the job.

Ida Idoto, a field worker with the charity, hopes they will get more.

She said: "Just tell people in Guernsey that we love their cows.

"We have found them resistant to disease and they give milk nearer to what the Uganda cow gives. People scramble for it.

"Unfortunately, we do not have many, but we are hoping to get more in the future."
