Guernsey currently forbids any form of euthanasia in the island
A limited system of euthanasia is being recommended in a minority report by a Guernsey politician.

Deputy Peter Roffey is advocating a limited and strictly proscribed system of voluntary euthanasia.

The Minister for Health and Social Services has based his report on a model used in the United States.

Mr Roffey's report follows a ruling by Guernsey's Policy Committee not to change the law which forbids any form of euthanasia in the island.

The conclusion of the report by Guernsey's most senior committee is to leave things as they are.
