Aircraft parking fears dismissed
Guernsey Airport
The terminal opens on 19 April
Fears that Guernsey Airport would not have enough parking spaces for aircraft have been dismissed by the States.

Business leaders in the island were worried a lack of parking for planes could lead to flight delays.

The amount of spaces for large aircraft has been reduced from 13 to 10 as a result of a new airport terminal.

But the Board of Administration has denied the claims, saying once the old terminal building has been demolished there will be plenty of room.

Control tower

Chamber of Commerce president Mark Gill had said more money should have been spent on standing space for aircraft and it was not too late to address the problem.

He said: "We believe there is space to provide another three full-size stands immediately north of the air traffic control tower.

"We believe this is a good time to consider it because the cement works, which have been used to produce the concrete for the new terminal, is still there and could be used again."

The new airport terminal will open to passengers on 19 April.
