Island short of police officers
Police recruits
The force is trying to recruit new officers
Police officials in Guernsey have admitted the island is 30 officers under strength and current resources are stretched.

It follows concerns raised by residents about slow response times by the force. But training officer Pc Barry Grief says the force is continuing its efforts to recruit new officers.

He says the force is a good career choice and everything possible is being done to make people aware it is recruiting new officers.

But Pc Grief says the reduced number of officers does have an impact.

He said: "It creates pressure on the people who are here and obviously for the public it means resources are more stretched."
