Skaters 'cause St James damage'
Damage at St James forecourt
Pointing on areas of stone at St James has been removed by impact damage
The Guernsey taxpayer will have to foot the bill for damage to one of the island's historic buildings.

The damage to the edges of the Portland stone kerbing in front of St James Concert Hall is believed to have been caused by BMX bikers and skateboarders.

The Board of Administration is responsible for the maintenance of the exterior of St James.

Its Chief Property Manager John Sylvester says it will cost thousands of pounds to repair.

Pointing on areas of stone at St James has been removed by impact damage.

The Board is not entirely clear how the damage occurred but it looks similar to markings around the Liberation Monument, which have been caused by BMX bike riders and skateboarders.
