Berth allocation 'causing dismay'
St Sampson's Harbour
The new marina at St Sampson's is due to be finished in May
Arrangements for moorings in Guernsey's new marina have disappointed some local boat owners.

Original berth holders in St Sampson's harbour say they were led to believe they would have first pick of places.

Guernsey's harbourmaster, Captain Robert Barton, says he has done everything he can to accommodate the original berth holders.

He says the arrangement has always been subject to matching the size of boat with the berths available.

'Very upset'

The new marina at St Sampson's is due to be finished in May.

It has been a controversial project from the start and local boat owners and residents have always been concerned about the changes to their traditional harbour.

Save St Sampson's campaigner, Gary Blanchford, says some people's requests have not been upheld.

He said: "It's about parking; about where you live and how easy it is to get down to your boat.

"I think these people have become very upset having thought they would be looked ater when they went back in there."
