Long-stay parking reduced
Parking spaces
The number of parking spaces is set to be reduced from 430 to 270
Guernsey motorists are set to lose some of their long-stay parking spaces in St Peter Port.

It is hoped the changes at the North Beach will persuade more people to consider alternative ways of getting to work.

Commuters are currently provided with up to 430 spaces, depending on the time of year.

From March, however, the permanent layout will include fewer than 270 10-hour spaces.

The Traffic Committee argues this will provide a further incentive for commuters to consider whether they need to bring their vehicles into Town every day.

It also hopes it will address the concerns raised by the St Peter Port Traders regarding the lack of short-term parking spaces in town.
